The films title comes on with a build up of the score as napoleon has his first look at the island.
It then goes back to France where the King of France was reinstated, the generals of Napoleon were now under the command of the King. One of the generals tells King Louis that Napoleon has escaped from Elba with one thousand men. He ordered him to stop Napoleon. The general was on a hill and he could see napoleon leading his small army towards him. When he got close he says “If you want to kill your emperor, here I am”. Something unexpected happens, the exact army that was sent to kill him actually joined him. This happened all the way to Paris. The King sent men to stop him, but all they did was join him. The King was forced into exile when he marched into Paris. The films shows this with French people waving French Republican flags and burning manikins of the King. Napoleon orders half of his army to pursue the retreating Prussians and the other half to pursue the retreating British allied forces. When Napoleon got to where the British were camped (Waterloo), it had been raining for a while so he couldn’t push up the artillery, he knew the importance of artillery. Napoleon was ill, his doctors urged him to rest, he had a sleepless night. Then it got to the actual battle scenes which were amazing, you really felt the scale and the amount of people who were actually on the battlefield because there literally were that many people there, the film hired some people from the Belgian army and dressed them up, this wouldn’t be thinkable today because it can just be done with CGI, but cgi doesn’t feel as real, you can even see the glints of lights of the soldier’s muskets in the distance. The costumes were spot on, and so were the probs. It was an intense film thats didn’t choose sides, it flipped between Napoleon and Wellington so you could understand both of their motives. In conclusion I give this film 7/10, because it stayed so authentic to the actual history and because of how epic it felt.

What is it about?
Spectral is set in the midst of a war. When people are fighting against each other they come across something more deadly than themselves. Confused as to what they are and how to defend themselves, they have to find a way to fight back. A scientific genius is given the responsibility of figuring out how to combat the ‘ghosts’. Visual & Sound Effects Now this was hands down the best part of this movie. The quality was amazing-from the camera angles to audio. Right from the start these effects captivate you. There isn’t any annoying ringing or blurred screen. If you didn’t know better, you’d think these beings were real. The only aspect of this that is in bad taste, was the lighting; there was a few moments where it was too dark or too bright. This could have been intentional but we found it a tad bit irritating. Screenplay The dramatic scenes are strong but it could have been better if it gave you more of a chance to connect with the characters then maybe you would feel more involved. Nevertheless, the action scenes are captivating. Impressed with the initial fighting scene, there was more to come. The multiple action scenes helped to really make up the movie. What’s bad about this script was the logic. It looked and sounded good but if you pay real attention, you’ll notice a few fatal flaws. One other bad note is that after an eye catching beginning, it started to explain too much too fast, making it easy to lose interest and harder to follow. This is probably because they were so eager to get into the action. The idea of this was fantastic, it just wasn’t done correctly. But don’t take it the wrong way, this was an intriguing film. Acting These actors played their role the best they could. Certain actors made it difficult to feel empathy. When a person did die, you couldn’t feel any real emotion but that wasn’t the actor’s fault. That was the person who hired them. At this point in their career, they are not able to portray such diverse characters. Some of the cast did their job perfectly fine but others did not have enough experience. When there were action scenes, they did their job well. Now we’re not gonna lie but our favourite character was this robot dog hybrid. To be honest, we could probably watch a movie just dedicated to the dog. Overall, the roles were played at an adequate standard. Overall Conclusions The effects blew us away. The plot is brilliant. The acting is okay and the script is a matter of opinion. The effects were top quality. It matched that of a blockbuster. Maybe this could have been done with different actors and an improved script. In our opinion we thought the film was okay, but depending on who you are as a moviegoer it could be a love or hate relationship; This movie isn’t a film of a lifetime, and it’s not trying to be. It’s one of those movies you’d watch on a day when you can’t think of anything better to watch or do. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad movie, it just means it’s an option.
